Many past members of Seven Wentworth have been appointed to judicial office. Of these, two have attained the highest judicial office in Australia: the Hon A M Gleeson AC(the current Chief Justice of Australia and a former Chief Justice of New South Wales), and Sir Anthony Mason AC KBE (former Chief Justice of Australia).
Appointments to the Supreme Court of New South Wales include the former Chief Justice, Sir Laurence Street AC KCMG, K St J.
Former members of Seven Wentworth who have been appointed to the New South Wales Court of Appeal are the Hon R G Reynolds QC, the Hon Justice L J Priestley, the Hon M J R Clarke QC, the Hon T R H Cole QC RFD and The Hon Justice R S McColl AO.
Other members of Seven Wentworth appointed to the Supreme Court of New South Wales are: the Hon R L Taylor, the Hon D A Hunt AO , the Hon A V Maxwell, the Hon T W Waddell QC, the Hon J R T Wood (former Chief Judge at Common Law) and the Hon Associate Justice R H Macready. The Hon Justice John Hislop and the Hon Justice Richard White are the most recent appointments to the Supreme Court from these Chambers.
Appointments to the Federal Court of Australia have included the Hon I G Sheppard AO QC and the late the Hon J S Lockhart AO QC. Mr David Jackson QC, a current member of Seven Wentworth, was formerly a judge of the Federal Court. The Hon. Justice Garry Downes AO is our most recent appointment to this Court, where he holds the position of President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
In addition there have been numerous appointees to the bench of the District Court of New South Wales.
Former members have served on international judicial bodies and tribunals, including the International War Crimes Court for the Former Yugoslavia (the Hon D A Hunt AO) and the World Trade Organisation (the Hon J S Lockhart AO QC).
